That First Look Feeling

I know we have all heard of doing first looks at weddings.  Whether you keep it traditional and just do a first look with the bride and groom, or you make it unique to you, first looks are such a special, intimate moment during the busyness of wedding day.

Let me give a little back story on the couple! Karsen and Ashley met in college at the U of I (I was actually friends with them in college which made the wedding day even more fun). They wanted their day to be natural, classic, with mixes of boho.  I loved how this wedding was a fall wedding but they didn’t conform to using traditional fall colors and stuck with something that felt more, them. You also could truly tell that their day was very family and friend oriented and it was so special! During their reception, together, they went around to every single table and guest and got a photo with them.  So so special!

Before the ceremony, we had a checklist of 3 first looks we wanted to do.  We capture the first look between the bride and groom, the bride and her bridesmaids and the bride and her dad and brothers.  And let me tell you, organizing 3 separate first looks was SO worth it!  We all know that a first look with the bride and groom is so special and tugs at the heart strings, but when you see your bestie girls turn around and see you in your dress for the first time, priceless.  And then to be able to catch the reactions of your brothers and dad, priceless times a million.  I could have ugly cried a million times on this day!  You could feel the love and magic around every corner

The party was epic (see pictures below)!  Ashley had sent me a reel prior to the wedding of these white heart shaped glasses getting passed around to guests on the dance floor. So, we obviously had to recreate this reel and it was a hit with all the guests.  It was a major hit among everyone, I mean who doesn’t want to have a photoshoot on the dance floor with the cutest pair of sunnies??

The day, the couple, the venue, the details, everything was so beautiful and every aspect was put together with love.  If you have thought about doing a non-traditional first look with someone other than your partner, this is your sign to do it! You definitely won’t regret taking those moments with the ones you love!
